About Our School

"To be a center of excellence in community-based and research-driven education, fostering sustainable development in Africa and beyond."

Our Mission

To train and produce competent, innovative, and ethical graduates who can lead and serve their communities effectively. Established in partnership with the Institute of Healthcare Management (IHM), the GLUK School of Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences is only the third of its kind in Kenya and one of only seven in East and Central Africa, poised to address the significant shortage of dental professionals in the region.

Our curriculum is meticulously designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of dental science, combined with extensive hands-on clinical training. We believe in nurturing compassionate, ethical, and highly skilled dental surgeons who are equipped to address the diverse healthcare needs of the population.

A Legacy Rooted in Community Health

GLUK originates from the Tropical Institute of Community Health and Development (TICH), established in 1998 as a non-profit trust devoted to community-based training, research, and development. Its founders championed the vision of formal, recognized training in community health—a vision that has profoundly shaped GLUK’s identity.

On February 10, 2012, the Government of Kenya formally granted GLUK its university charter, conferring upon it corporate and perpetual status. This was a decisive step affirming GLUK’s ability to award degrees, governed by its own council and charter provisions. With over 22 degree programs all related to health, the BDS program adds to the rich diversity in teaching and research which GLUK has to offer.
